OUR STORY
The Poplars Farm, Coopworths, FE Gold, Kirikau Coopworths
OUR STORY

The Poplars Farm is a 333 hectare hill-country sheep and beef farm located in the Kirikau Valley south-west of Taumarunui. The Carter family has been breeding Coopworth sheep since 1974. This is a family-run farm producing top quality FE tolerant Coopworth rams. Key traits include lamb growth, meat yield, disease resistance and fertility without compromising physical structure.

We focus on producing fast growing meaty lambs that perform in steep hill country farms with high FE challenge. We have a conservative drenching policy and complete FEC (faecal egg counts) on all rams to determine worm resistance and tolerance.

Our goal is to breed low-input, high-output rams to help make your flock efficient and easy-care.

OUR TEAM

Robert and Suzanne Carter took over the family Coopworth flock #296 in the early 1980's and have been adding value to the flock ever since. Today their son Travis Carter is the stock manager who lives on the farm with partner Julie Matthews (pictured). To find out more click below.
